Well, it is impossible to predict the future, but how quickly you climb the stairs can surely reveal a very important thing about your health.
Yes, that is right. Do you get breathless while taking the stairs or can climb it without any pause. As per a recent study, all these things can reveal your risk of early death from cardiovascular and other illnesses.
The study was conducted by a group of researchers from the University Hospital Coruña in Galicia. The study suggests that if you can walk four flights of stairs without a pause, then you can avoid early death. As per the study, a healthy individual will be able to complete this test in a minute without any pause.
The researchers conducted the study on 13,000 people who were either battling or suspected to have coronary artery disease.
It was found that the people who struggled to complete the task were three times more likely to die from heart problems and was twice at the risk of dying from cancer.
The researcher even found a link between exercising and longevity.
Dr. Andrew Freeman, director of cardiovascular prevention and wellness at National Jewish Health also supported the study and said that one’s ability to climb the stairs also indicates that they will be able to undergo smoother surgery than those who failed the test.
What if you failed the test
So, even if you failed the test, do not be disheartened. Visit the doctor and get proper diagnostic workup, if needed and get to the bottom of what is limiting you. Learn from your failure and motivate yourself to exercise to get into a perfect shape.
Exercising regularly is very important for a healthy and disease-free life. If you workout on a daily basis, then you are more likely to be fit and have better recovery than others.
